Dr. Jim Chen is a Board-certified medical oncologist and hematologist dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized cancer care with a strong focus on innovation and advancing treatment options for patients. He specializes in medical oncology, general hematology, with a special interest in genitourinary cancers, including prostate, kidney, and bladder cancers.
Originally from China, Dr. Chen spent part of his childhood in Vancouver, Canada, before moving to Oklahoma, where he lived for many years. He later chose to make Arkansas his home, drawn by the state’s welcoming communities and quality of life.
Dr. Chen earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City. He completed both his internal medicine residency and fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he distinguished himself by serving as both chief resident and chief fellow.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chen is actively involved in advancing the future of cancer care through technology and research. He serves as a developer for Meaningful Insights Biotech Analytics (MiBA), an AON informatics venture in partnership with Ascend Technologies Group, where he helps integrate artificial intelligence solutions into clinical medicine. His work focuses on advancing personalized medicine through clinical decision support, data analytics, and clinical trial matching.
Dr. Chen has also demonstrated a strong commitment to leadership and professional development within oncology, having served on the Board of Directors for The Community Oncology Alliance (COA) Fellows Initiative. He is a member of ASCO, as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Arkansas Association for Cancer Professionals, (AACP).
Recognized for his thoughtful and patient-centered approach, Dr. Chen is committed to guiding patients and families through every stage of care with compassion, clear communication, and evidence-based treatment. Fluent in both English and Chinese, he can provide culturally responsive care to a diverse patient population.
